Michael R. Mills at Rice Polak Gallery
Can we talk about how beautiful these paintings are? Collectors are constantly asking me how I find the artists that I represent in the gallery and this is one of my favorite stories. I was visiting PAAM, viewing the work in their annual “12×12 Show” and saw one of Michael’s paintings — and my jaw literally dropped. I instantly knew that I wanted to see more of his work and that I wanted to meet this super talented artist.
Michael R. Mills is a self-taught representational artist residing on Cape Cod. His focus is on beautifully composed still life paintings characterized by balanced compositions and refined brushwork which reflects his fascination for design and craftsmanship.
His paintings often feature a variety of natural objects like fruit and flowers that playfully utilize the contrast of light and shadows to create drama and interest. By capturing these seemingly ordinary moments, he seeks to evoke a sense of wonder and appreciation for the beauty that surrounds us every day.
This is the first time Michael has shown his work in an art gallery. Rice Polak is thrilled to be representing Michael R. Mills and I hope you will join me in welcoming him to the gallery and to our wonderful Provincetown community.
