I’m not sure if it was the eclipse (which was amazing!), the weather or just the excitement of the season but the energy has completely shifted in Provincetown.I am feeling as excited as every about the gallery and would like to welcome another new artist to our Rice Polak family —- Lainard Bush.
Lainard’s abstract works have an underlying grid to organize the painting. A time lapse video captures his simple but lengthy process, layering many stages of paint – then re-positioning or altering the grid for the next layer.
LAINARD BUSH
“System Series #21″ 16″x16”
“I create paintings because of an obsessive need to give expression to the idea of infinite beauty and the mystery of being. This need arises from my experience of the joy and wonder of this world. My work has a kinship with the tradition of sacred geometry.”
“Coalescence #3″ 24″x34”
“Process is central to the work. It is a kind of alchemy: I combine the elemental, formal aspects of abstraction, which includes experimenting, inventing, exploring and exercising my powers of observation and analysis. Over many years of practice I have developed and refined my own methods, and perfected my means for creating paintings that have the potential to engage and transform.”.
