Ellen LeBow “Unprayed Prayers”
“Unprayed Prayers” is a compelling collaborative blend of words, music and images by acclaimed artist Ellen LeBow, award winning writer Mary Gordon and musician Suzzy Roche. Mary Gordon explores the idea of writing prayers for those usually not prayed for. LeBow who specializes in black and white drawing executed in ink on scratchboard has illustrated these powerful prayers.
On Tuesday July 12th at 5PM Mary Gordon and Ellen LeBow will be speaking about their work at the Rice Polak Gallery. Click here to read more about this special event.
Julie Levesque “Arctic Fix”
Julie Levesque is a sculptor and installation artist based in Massachusetts. Her latest series, “Artic Fix,” include depictions of receding ice sheets in the Arctic and Antarctica. Feeling helpless but also struck by the uplifting beauty of those icy, white landscapes one night Levesque snapped images from her television screen, printed them and started stitching them together. While she can’t fix the problem of climate change alone, she can harness the beauty to make work that sparks concern and conversation.
Necee Regis “Flight Dreams”
Mixed media artist, Necee Regis, combines traditional and non-conventional materials in her work, exploring themes of travel and distance, separation and longing, macrocosms and microcosms, maps and patterns. Her series, “Flight Dreams,” uses imagery of jets and mapping systems to tap into our deep collective longings to travel, explore and soar above limited horizons. Sean Thomas “Surface Tension”
Oil painter, Sean Thomas, creates work in response to the relationship between the artificial and natural environment, often rendering spaces of unexpected beauty. His newest series of work, “Surface Tension,” investigates the nuance and tension between clearly defined spaces and their inherent ambiguity influenced by atmosphere, time, and memory.
The gallery is now open daily, online and of course by appointment. Please visit our new website where you now buy artwork directly. And if you are in town this Friday please stop by the gallery and experience this wonderful show in person.
