ALICIA ROTHMAN combines the painterly expression of a classically trained artist, with meticulously decorative details that recall the exotic nature of Persian miniatures. Her work has a timeless quality that is both ancient and modern in its references to the delicate patterns that have influenced Medieval art and the symbolic nature of the animal imagery omnipresent in prehistoric art. All of her paintings are done in oil on panel using hand made patterns, stencils, xerox transfers and a vast range of other unusual techniques which create atmospheric tones.
