Sculptor and artist, Janice Redman carefully wraps, stuffs and sews vintage, well-used household items and mummifies them in muslin and plaster, lifting them from past lives and altering their physical memory. Working with found objects including spoons, tea cups, rolling pins and beekeeping guides, Redman breathes new life into the concepts of buoyancy and immobility. Born in Huddersfield, England she received an MFA from the University of Ulster, N. Ireland. Most recently Redman participated in an exhibition at the American Academy of Arts & Letters and was one of four sculptors whose work was honored and chosen for purchase. These sculptures will be donated to American museums throughout the country.
